Botox
Botox is a purified injectable that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet.
Botox is a brand of botulinum toxin, a purified protein injected in very small amounts to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. When those muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths out, softening the lines that form with repeated expressions such as frowning, squinting, and raising the eyebrows.
It is most commonly used for the frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, and the crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes. It is also used for certain medical concerns, including excessive underarm sweating and some types of chronic headaches.
Treatment takes only a few minutes and requires no anesthesia or downtime. Most people notice results within a few days, with the full effect visible in about two weeks. The result is temporary and typically lasts three to four months, after which the treatment can be repeated.
Botox works best on lines caused by muscle movement rather than lines caused by sun damage or loss of volume, which may respond better to dermal fillers or other treatments. A consultation helps determine the right approach for your goals.
